Ethics-by-Design: In Germany, the blueprint for responsible AI is emerging.
neuland.ai and deep-IN initiate strategic partnership for the development of the world’s first ethical AI infrastructure
The companies neuland.ai AG from Cologne and deep-IN GmbH from Bonn announce the start of their strategic partnership. The goal is to develop the world’s first AI infrastructure that integrates ethics, trust, transparency, and data sovereignty from the ground up, thus establishing the international standard for responsible and trustworthy artificial intelligence.
Prof. Dr. Markus Gabriel, renowned philosopher focusing on digital ethics and founder of deep-IN: "We are at a civilizational turning point. The disruptive power of AI technology is comparable to the steam engine moment of industrialization. However, without clear ethical guidelines, AI will become a black box – a risk to democracy, freedom, and self-determination."
With the planned infrastructure, organizations, administrations, and companies will be enabled to build AI systems that act based on values, make transparent decisions, and operationalize responsibility—in real-time, under their own control, based on verifiable data.
Karl-Heinz Land, CEO of neuland.ai: "Trust will be the decisive currency in the age of AI. Our platform enables companies and authorities worldwide to use AI safely, reliably, and compliant with regulations—while also shaping it to be humane and fair. For us, this is not an empty marketing promise, but a real technological and moral necessity." Jean Dickie, Managing Director of deep-IN: "We are working on an ethical revolution in the age of intelligent machines. Without clear ethical guidelines, AI will become a black box. The collaboration initiated now between neuland.ai and deep-IN aims to not only demand these guidelines but to implement them concretely: through a technologically and normatively sound architecture for responsible AI, which is unparalleled worldwide."
"We must decide today what kind of world we want to live in tomorrow. This also includes what type of AI we will use to shape this future."
Prof. Dr. Markus Gabriel, founder of deepIn
The core of the project is the patented AI technology of neuland.ai AG, whose architectures and tools are designed for uncompromising security, data sovereignty, and efficiency—and embed ethical principles deeply into the technical core. With the neuland.ai HUB—a secure AI platform made in Germany—it will be possible for the first time to model ethical knowledge, normative principles, and organization-specific values in a machine-readable and context-sensitive manner—thanks to innovative ontology technology and dynamic AI language models.
"Only through the architectural approach of neuland.ai and deep-IN will ethical AI not only be envisioned but concretely built," says Karl-Heinz Land. "The combination of dynamic ontology, controlled semantics, understandable conflict resolution, and technical sovereignty marks a paradigm shift. We are not talking about ethics in hindsight, but ethics as the operating system of intelligent systems—for safe and compliant use of AI."
The cooperation partners are convinced that with an ethical AI infrastructure, there is a chance to establish Germany and Europe as a leading location for ethical and trustworthy AI—supported by top-tier science, a unique technology stack, and legally secure governance and compliance structures.
"We must decide today what kind of world we want to live in tomorrow," says Prof. Gabriel. "This also includes what type of AI we will use to shape this future."
